Author’s Blurb:
After accidentally stumbling across an ancient microorganism frozen in Antarctic ice cores, two college students on a class trip find themselves wrapped up in a chain of horrifying, world-changing events. The budding scientists are, at first, excited for the possibility of recognition within the scientific community. Their hopeful speculation quickly evaporates, morphing into a terrifying episode, resulting in what can best be described as flesh-hungry zombies.
Events rapidly turn unfavorable once the survivors reach the mainland, unknowingly spreading the plague, trying to reach their home. Soon after arriving, the college is quickly quarantined by the military and is tasked with developing a cure as the world devolves around them. Students and staff alike become forced into a laborious and spartan lifestyle alongside the military to remain in their small, but defensible safe haven.
As the months tick by, the remnants of humanity fight tirelessly to save what’s left; all the while dealing with ever-increasing numbers of infected around their borders. The scattered reports from outside the campus are just as grim—or worse. It becomes clear, the world is crumbling into an unrecognizable hellscape. The mysterious puzzle of creating a cure to save the population begins to crash against the idea of survival purely by the extermination of the enemy.
The college’s defenses are soon put to the test against a new type of adversary. As the military goes on a warpath to defend their home, the reality of the virus makes an explosive entrance. Everyone inside is forced to the limit to stay alive. The survivors come to realize the shockingly true danger of the enemy they face.
